Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is "an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders." Given the sometimes intense nature of EMDR, I recommend longer initial sessions (75 min). This will help us to promote safety and ensure time to regulate the nervous system after processing difficult content.

Depending on where you are in your transition process, I'd be happy to provide a surgery readiness assessment and support letter. This usually occurs over 2-3 sessions.

As a cis provider offering a gender-confirming service, I want to acknowledge my position of power in this process. I recognize that pursuing gender-confirming medical care can be challenging for any number of reasons; I hope to limit my role as a "gatekeeper" in this process, while offering transparency around how letters are written.

Please note: If we are already meeting for individual therapy, I will be referring you to an outside provider for letter writing in order to preserve the nature of our relationship.
